This is the one people get wrong. Bedrock Edition, which is what runs on consoles, phones and the Microsoft Store version of Windows, cannot connect to this server at all. They are separate games that share a name.
Both come from minecraft.net. Windows, macOS and Linux all work.
In the launcher, open Installations and make one on release 26.2. Join on the wrong version and the server turns you away, telling you which one it wants.
Server Name is only a label for your own list, so call it anything.
mc.pcdev.infoNothing else. No port, no colon, no numbers after it. The port is handled for you.
If it says it cannot resolve the host, give it a minute and retry. Your router may still be holding an old DNS answer.
Talk to people near you and hear them fade out as they walk away. It is optional, and it is not something the server can install for you. Skip it and you can still play normally, you just will not hear anyone or be heard.
Vanilla Minecraft cannot load mods. Fabric is the easiest and the one we would pick. Run the installer, choose 26.2, install. Forge, NeoForge and Quilt work too if you already use one.
From Modrinth. On the Versions tab pick the file matching both your loader and Minecraft 26.2. A Forge file will not load under Fabric, and the wrong game version will not load at all.
The Fabric build also needs Fabric API, matched to 26.2 the same way. Modrinth lists required dependencies on each version page, so check there and save yourself a crash on startup.
Do not unzip them. Create the folder if it is not there.
%appdata%\.minecraft\mods~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods~/.minecraft/modsPick the fabric-loader-26.2 installation, not the plain one. Launching vanilla by accident is the usual reason people think the mod did nothing.
That opens the setup guide: microphone, speaker, push to talk or voice activation, your keybind, and mic sensitivity.
On macOS you also have to allow Minecraft to use the microphone, under System Settings, Privacy & Security, Microphone. If the mod looks fine but your mic is dead, this is nearly always it.

You get MEMBER the first time you join, nothing to ask for. It is a tag and nothing else, no perks and no permissions, so everyone shows up as someone rather than a bare name. VIP is handed out by staff.
Spawn is protected. The rest of the map runs on trust.
Not at spawn, and not on people who want no part of it.
That includes x-ray and duping.
It is filtered, and staff read it.
Do not wall in someone else's base or block their view.
